Instead of hopping behind the wheel to go shopping, today's consumer need only head for their desk chair. Thanks to the Internet, consumers can buy almost anything with a few clicks from the comfort of their home or office. And they seem to be more enthusiastic about doing so.

"The State of Online Shopping 2012" survey, conducted by SteelHouse, polled 300 U.S. shoppers to determine their attitude toward online shopping over the next year. Overall, shoppers appear more optimistic about the U.S. economy, with 49 percent claiming they are more optimistic in 2012. While 24 percent of respondents are less optimistic about this year's economy as opposed to 2011, 28 percent cited no change in their feelings.
