Be Social
Social media is fast becoming the “it” online activity. Oh sure, it’s been around for ages. But with new technologies and marketers’ enthusiasm, its burgeoning role as a hotbed of advocates and influencers is undeniable. So, then, what sites are doing it well?
In this month’s issue of The Marketing Xfactor we discuss one site that brings the influential power of the Internet to local markets. Check out Executive Editor John Gaffney’s article Is Angie's List the Future of the Internet?, on Angie’s List, a social media site that let’s buyers of home improvement services rate their contractors. The site’s popularity has more than doubled its market reach in the past year alone.
Also in Xfactor, Carlson Marketing’s Chase Grover discusses how some companies are encouraging customers to share “altered” versions of their ads (Whose Brand Is It Anyway?). Old Spice, for example, allows customers to customize its “When She’s Hot” ads and forward the new version to friends, spurring 10 million emails so far. Now that’s social.
What’s the best example you’ve encountered?
