Chattering about Salesforce.com
I'm in San Francisco this week at the annual Dreamforce conference run by Salesforce.com (my third visit, and it's much bigger this year than the last two). During today's keynote, CEO Marc Benioff announced Salesforce Chatter, a product that supplements the company's service, sales, platform, and customization tools.
Benioff describes chatter as "bringing the capabilities of Twitter and Facebook to the enterprise." Indeed, the demonstration showed Chatter looks and acts remarkably like a social network, allowing users to post profiles, status updates, and lets applications alert users of important updates. Chatter is planned for release next spring. Among the other highlights:
-Service Cloud 2 connects the contact center and knowledge base with conversations occurring outside internal networks (i.e. Facebook, Twitter, communities)
-Sales Cloud 2 contains a content module so users can share digital content (slideshows, videos, other marketing collateral), drag and drop it to make new presentations, and push that content out to clients via a private webpage or mobile file...this eliminates the need for large email attachments
More updates to come throughout the day today and tomorrow.
